LCSW Supervision
I am excited you are interested in taking this next step in your professional journey!
GETTING STARTED WITH LCSW SUPERVISION
WHAT TO EXPECT
An LMSW under supervision typically meets with their supervisor for 4 hours per month. In my program, sessions are offered weekly online and in-person on Saturday afternoon. You can live anywhere in Texas and participate in supervision.
INDIVIDUAL SESSIONS
A majority of supervision sessions are facilitated in a group setting with other social workers. You have the option to request an individual 1 hour meeting to assess your current skills, questions, and further develop a personalized plan to fit your needs and goals.
GROUP SESSIONS
Biweekly group supervisory sessions may include a review of cases, role-play and may include live demonstration of therapeutic skills as well as lecture like materials for learning. Group members will present client cases or ethical dilemmas they encounter at work and receive feedback from myself and other group members. Group members will also receive support and guidance with LCSW exam preparation. All supervisees must participate in a two-hour group session, twice per month.

Frequently asked questions
-
The Texas State Board of Social Work Examiners determined that if you assess, diagnose and treat mental health or substance abuse issues using DSM-V criteria for at least four hours per week, you are eligible for LCSW supervision. In most clinical settings, there are other providers that complete formal diagnosis. If you are using your clinical skills and tools when work with clients or patients, you are likely fulfilling this requirement.
